Faq And Reviews – About Mount Trolling Motor Boat

Joseph asks…
Trolling motor mounted to transom while towing boat?
Is it ok to tow your boat with the trolling motor attached to the transom of the boat?
Or has anyone had one come off after maybe hitting a pothole or bump.
I just dont want to mess with mounting the motor to the transom when I get to the lake if I don’t have to but I also dont want it flying off while I’m driving down the highway.
So do you think this is safe?
Staff – Customer Service answers:
As long as its secured properly it’ll be fine. You can probably even tilt it in the boat (if it doesnt have a stand) and tie it down.

William asks…
How long would a trolling motor last on a 12′ aluminum boat?
Just curious if you had 3 grown people on a 12′ boat and a new trolling motor battery with a 42lb thrust trolling motor (transom mount) how long would it last while frishing or running around out on the lake? About how many hours on a calm day?
Staff – Customer Service answers:
You should get about two hours run time out of a good 12v deep cycle battery. For extended time on the water look for a trolling motor with pulse modulation take a look at this min kota site that describes this feature
http://www.minnkotamotors.com/advantage/freshwater.aspx?sectionID=1
you may be able to find a pulse modulator accessory to add to a trolling motor not equipped with this option
hope this helps

Maria asks…
how do you mount a trolling on the front of my boat?
i have a trolling motor i want to mount to the front of my aluminum boat. the front deck is about 6″ lower than the edge of the boat. what do people use to raise the trolling motor up so it folds down straight in the water without hitting the edge of the boat?
Staff – Customer Service answers:
Go to any sporting goods store that carries fishing/boating supplies and purchase a trolling motor mounting kit….there are several to choose from…they will have a catalog with the different brands of boats..find your boat-get the product number and “presto” you have a kit for your trolling motor
